This clever farce and dark comedy adapts the famous novella Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, by Robert Louis Stevenson. Set against the empire and backdrop of Victorian England, a group of compelling characters release their repressed inhibitions with increasing ferocity, animalistic abandon, and comic chaos. At the center of it all is Dr. Henry Jekyll, a talented physician with the ambition to discern and master the chemical formula for human good and evil, using himself as the test patient. As his experiments proceed, his alter ego (Mr. Hyde) becomes progressively violent and difficult to control. In the hands of writer Lauren Wilson, the results are equally hilarious and horrific, as she uses comedy to captivate the audience while exploring the universal themes from Stevenson’s classic. The result is a fast-paced romp as the characters walk the tightrope between civility and depravity. You’ll laugh out loud and then question why you’re laughing!
Suitable for most ages.
